Title: Ethics of nanotechnologies driven engineering: The often overlooked and missing component in research

Abstract

Education Is The Continuous Process Of Transformation Of An Individual To Solve The Problems Of Daily Life With Hope Which Is The Urgent Need Of This Generation.  Education In Some Parts Of The World Is To Earn A Living Which May Be Or May Not Be Relevant To The Discipline The Citizen Had Been Educated For A Period Of 3 To 10 Years Of Higher Education. Hence The Charm Of Going To Work Starts With Reluctance And The Citizen Accommodates In The Long Run Which May Affect His Total Personality. Higher Education In Many Parts Of The World Is Devoid Of Ethics And Value Education. Even If They Are Introduced They May Be In The Electives And Not Mandatory. Any War Starts Between Two Nations Is Mainly Because Of Different Religious Ideologies, Personal Ideologies And Cultural Ideologies Or May Be Due To The Greedy Expansion Of Territories. In The Opinion Of The Author A Better Ethics And Value Education Which Can Be Incorporated In The Curriculum Along With The Topic Taught In Any Subject In Any Class May Have A Good Impact In Changing The Attitude Of The Learners Of Higher Education To Propagate And Practice Peace And Tolerance In Their Working Places Which May Collectively Promote  Peace And Harmony In The Individual And Finally In The Society. Let Me Introduce To You A New Pedagogy In Education Which Encompasses Ethics And Values In Every Class Hour In Higher Education Along With An Effective Teaching - Learning Model Which May Be Useful For Budding Teachers In Higher Education All Over The World. This Is Known As The Ropeers Model Developed By This Author Where

R Stands For Review,

O Stands For Overview,

P Stands For Presentation,

E Stands For Exercise,

ER Stands For Ethical Reflection,  And

S Stands For Summary.

In this talk the Presenter will select a relevant topic that fits with one of the THEMES of the conference and explain the ROPEERS Model. Budding teachers can extend and refine this model as it does not have any copy right.

The audience take away from my presentation:

1. Explain how the audience will be able to use what they learn?

  • Though there is no unique model of teaching yet there are certain common rules, if followed, makes teaching highly efficient and learner centered. ROPEES Model may try to give a basic  outline of the teaching strategy on which the teacher may add his own  innovations  to achieve the learning objectives of the lesson
  • Classes will be highly interactive and .the learner is made to think before learning a concept which makes learning permanent.
  • The hands on activity methods introduced during the best parts of the lesson makes learning more interesting and promote curiosity.

2. How will this help the audience in their job?

It helps the audience to learn the lesson effectively with all ethics and values embedded in it.

3. Is this research that other faculty could use to expand their research or teaching?

It can be used to improve the quality of teaching and also promote ETHICS AND VALUES in research fields.

4. Does this provide a practical solution to a problem that could simplify or make a designer’s job more efficient?

  • This method is a well proven method except for the ER component which makes the learner think and question the concepts and promote the learning holistically.
  • Will it improve the accuracy of a design, or provide new information to assist in a design problem? List all other benefits.
  • It is likely to produce better teachers for the modern society.
  • It helps in developing the analytical skills of the learners.
  • The teacher can improve a lot upon this model after receiving feedback from the learners.
  • It also develops the art of questioning skills in the learners which makes the teacher to be updated in recent trends of the topic and the peer group to actively involve in the discussions which makes the class lively.
  • The DO’s and DONT’s are analyzed by the learners and they try to become responsible future leaders of the nation where peace and harmony prevails.
