Biography

Mandla Vincent Khumalo working as a lecture at Nelson Mandela University, Chemistry Department at Gqeberha South Africa. I have obtained my Polymer Technology Doctoral Degree from Tshwane University of Technology. My main expertise is on Materials Science research, Polymer Chemistry and Processing, with most of my time in nanotechnology research projects for packaging applications. Currently my research area is development of sustainable natural fibre green composites for industrial applications in South Africa. This research project aims to develop sustainable biobased polymeric materials for industrial applications in South Africa. The project will focus on the preparation and characterization biobased composite materials and products from renewable resources that are biodegradable and have desirable mechanical and thermal properties. The project aims to address the environmental impact of conventional petroleum-based polymers and contribute to the sustainable development of the South African industry. I have extensive knowledge of the different polymers production operations using twin-screw extruder for compounding, Injection moulding, 5-layer film blower extrusion, casting machine. I also have extensive knowledge on different types of polymers. I’m proudly mentioned my experienced background more than 15 years different processing polymers and 10 research and development in polymer composites/nanocomposites.
